Hello dear cake lovers! Happy 2016!
It's a year of a Monkey according to Chinese zodiac so let's get creative, goofy, silly and curious! This is my motto for 2016.
The other night when my friend and I were having fun baking cupcakes for her daughter's birthday she stopped, looked at me and said "You know so many tips and tricks for baking yummy stuff that I don't know – why are you not sharing them with the whole world?" – What a good and provoking question! When I started baking with my grandma at age 5 I was like a sponge absorbing all the knowledge she was giving to me. I admired her skills, her passion and patience. I continued my "sweet education" by trying and mixing different ingredients together the way I felt it would work. Sometimes magic wasn't working and sometimes something new and tasty was coming out. It is such a great feeling of satisfaction when a beautiful deliciously looking creation of yours is a center piece at a dining table, when you see happy faces of your family members, friends, guests tasting a first bite of your cake (or any baked goods!)... mmmmm what a heavenly feeling!
There are certain algorithms for different categories of recipes (which I will explore with you in my next post). When you know and own these basics you can let it go and only a sky is a limit! Every person has her/his own unique touch when baking and decorating so same recipe cake will never taste the same as your friend's even if you use absolutely identical ingredients with absolutely identical measurements. This is incredible! Not only a temperature, humidity, pressure, noise, weather outside influence the final baked product but your mood, intentions and even thoughts. This is the beauty of any craft and baking particularly.
I eager to share what I know with you! It is never late to start, it is always a perfect time for putting your hands into dough, sprinkle your kitchen floor with flour, dust sugar from your counter, crack few eggs and let the magic begin!
